 Summer Research Award and Fellowship Program

This program supports full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty for summer research projects that will advance the faculty member’s career.  The program is directed toward single-investigator projects. The maximum award is $12,000 with up to six weeks of support provided for salary and fringe benefits.  The deadline for receipt of proposals is January 22, 2007. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

deArce Memorial Endowment Fund in Support of
Medical Research and Development
 

This program supports full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members for projects in support of medical research and development.  Although there is no maximum limit to the award, grants do not generally exceed $15,000, with up to six weeks of support for faculty salary and fringe benefits. The deadline for receipt of proposals is January 22, 2007. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

Guidelines corrected to match URAF booklet for these sentences: "Assistant professors can apply for summer salary support (maximum support for six weeks summer salary and fringe). However, associate and full professors cannot apply for summer salary support or release time support."

Interdisciplinary Research Initiation Awards

This program is to support an interdisciplinary group of at least four faculty members from at least two separate academic departments in organizing and beginning research on a major interdisciplinary project.  Proposals may request up to $50,000 per project.  The deadline to submit an Intent letter is November 17, 2006; deadline for receipt of proposals is December 15, 2006. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

IMPORTANT! Faculty members may be listed as investigators on only ONE proposal!

Phase 0 SBIR/STTR Program

This program provides up to $4,500 (increased this year from $3,500) to a tenured or tenure-track faculty member to help them collaborate with a small business partner in the development and submission of a SBIR or STTR proposal.  Proposals are accepted at any time and are reviewed by the Research Council. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

Proposal Preparation Mini-Grants to Federal Agencies

This program will support a full-time tenured or tenure track faculty member for up to $4,500 (increased this year from $4,000) to assist in the rewriting and resubmission of a proposal to a federal competitive R&D agency.  The award is competitive and is designed to help faculty win their first competitive proposal.  Faculty who do not have a strong record of recent awards may also apply. Proposals are accepted at any time and are reviewed by the Research Council. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

The Visiting Faculty Researcher Program

This program is designed to enhance our relationship with regional colleges and universities and contribute to the community by bringing a visiting faculty member to the University of Toledo for collaborative research.  Full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty from The University of Toledo will be provided the opportunity to sponsor visiting faculty from local or regional colleges and universities, or expert practitioners (visitors), to spend time conducting research on a problem of mutual interest. Visitors must agree to spend at least six weeks at The University of Toledo and may receive up to $5,000 of total support. The deadline for receipt of proposals is January 22, 2007. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

Archaeological Research Fund

This program supports full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty to the offset the cost of archeological research. Available annually will be approximately $1,500-$2,000. The deadline for receipt of proposals is January 22, 2007. For the 2006-07 academic year, only faculty members from Main Campus are eligible for this program.

Undergraduate Summer Research and Creative Activity Program

As of 2006-2007, this program is under the directorship of Dr. Thomas Kvale in the Office of Undergraduate Research. PLease visit the Office of Undergraduate Research website for more information. This program is designed to support undergraduate students for summer research and creative activity projects.  Students receive a stipend for the 2006 summer, and additional funding is provided to the student’s advisor for materials and supplies.  Deadline for proposals is February 2, 2007 .
